Jackson School of the Arts
During the month of March, which is Reading Month, Jackson School of the Arts is going to the dogs. Can dogs read? At Jackson School of the Arts they can. Mark your calendar for Sunday, March 12, 1:00-3:00 PM for a free event called… ART DOG. Join Belle, the therapy dog as we read the book “Art Dog” by Thatcher Hurd. In the art studio all ages can enjoy a dog themed art project and purchase a Doggie Bag Lunch with what else, a hot dog!
Can dogs paint? Actually they can, and dogs are seen in countless works of art from those that are funny, serious, real and make believe. (Think of those dogs playing poker.) Stop by and visit our Mini Museum which in March features dogs in art.
April showers bring fantastic fairies back to Jackson School of the Arts. This is the 10th Annual Fairy Festival, and we continue to offer more and more exciting elements to this beloved event.
Not to spoil the surprise but we’ve got some new attractions this year including Captain Hooks ship. There’s a rumor that Tinkerbell will be sharing some pixie dust. On the Saturday of the Fairy Festival, the only surviving unicorn in the world will be visiting our Fairy Kingdom. You will want to get a photo otherwise, no one will believe you.
The evening before the Fairy Festival opens is the most special event of the year: the Twilight Fairy Gala on April 21. This is just the 4th year for this event which allows a limited number of guests to enter the enchanted kingdom ahead of the weekend crowds. The evening includes a light dinner and dessert, dancing, a special art activity, a performance and as always an amazing special surprise at the end. All children go home with a smile on their face and a gift bag with a t-shirt. This event is a fundraiser for Jackson School of the Arts so you’ll be supporting children and the arts in Jackson while making wonderful memories with your family.
As you can see, we have active imaginations at Jackson School of the Arts, and we love sharing our creativity with you. Imagination is a wonderful thing. It can provide an escape for a moment. Whether it’s a dreary day or something bigger, using your imagination can inspire you for bigger and better things. At Jackson School of the Arts we encourage the youth we serve to tap into their hopes and dreams to create a brighter future. Join us for these imaginative events. Come as a guest or call us about volunteer opportunities. There is something for everyone at the most creative place in town.
