Season Information:
Learn discipline and expand your TKD knowledge as a family. This new offering at JSA will allow both adults and children to train together and grow new self defense techniques. Each adult is required to have at least one child under the age of 17 to join.
Parent & Child: $55 or less per month
Plus $40 Registration Fee: covers breaking boards and testing fee

In our Beginner level, we focus on confidence and discipline while teaching the basics of TKD. This includes basic kicks and basic jump kicks. We are a whole person art, not just a martial art, meaning that the philosophies and mental training completed in class will serve the student in many other aspects of life, like school or a job.
Ages 5 and up are welcome.
Winter session pricing: $45 or less per month
Plus $25 Registration Fee: covers testing fee and belt promotion. Uniforms must be purchased. The cost is $45.
Must have a Purple/Green stripe Rank to be included in Intermediate Level
The Intermediate level of Tae Kwon Do starts the students on a more advanced path, beginning to learn patterns as well as more advanced standing and jumping techniques. We still focus on discipline and confidence. Since many of the techniques are more difficult than Beginner level, the momentum of confidence-building increases for our students as they complete more goals.

Must have a Brown stripe Rank to be included in Advanced Level
Advanced Tae Kwon Do is meant for students to continue their skill building and begin working on Hapkido techniques. The progression of this class will start the foundation of learning blocks and strikes into grappling. The program is a no contact form of martial arts that will progress into learning how to defend yourself, escape an opponent or how to gain advantage using specific techniques while grappling. Students will need a Brown Belt rank to participate in this class.

Grand Master Skinner is an 8th Dan Black belt at United Tae Kwon Do. She has taught and trained at United Tae Kwon Do for 45 years. GM Skinner first studied Tang Soo Do and then Tae Kwon Do from Grand Master Sang Kyu Shim. She has run United Tae Kwon Do since 1992 and has inspired many students to train in martial arts and seek higher education. She received her BS in Business from Madonna University and her JD from Cooley Law School. GM Skinner has been a driving force of keeping Traditional Tae Kwon Do that has been passed down for generations through the training of 1000’s of students over the years. She has trained multiple generations of families in the Art of Tae Kwon Do.
Master Isabelle Lelli a 4th Dan at United Tae Kwon Do who has been training and teaching for over 18 years. She has trained under Grand Master Skinner and Grand Master Shankin at United Tae Kwon Do. She is completing her Junior year at Northern Michigan University studying Neuroscience: Behavior and Cognition and looking to go on to Graduate School and a Doctoral Program in her field. Master Lelli is a high energy instructor who loves teaching forms to students and the Toddler Program of United Tae Kwon Do.
Master Tom Lelli is a 4th Dan and has been with United Tae Kwon Do for over 17 years. He has been a lead instructor at both the Livonia and Warren branches of United Tae Kwon Do. As a student of Grand Master Skinner and Grand Master Shankin at United Tae Kwon Do under Grand Master Shim’s Traditional Teachings. His first love of martial arts is the study and teachings of philosophy of the Art of Tae Kwon Do. Master Lelli is the IT Director at a Tier 1 automotive parts supplier in the Metro Detroit area. He is the father of 3 young adults who all have trained at United Tae Kwon Do.
Master Peter Gruenewald is a 4th Dan and has trained and taught at United Tae Kwon Do for over 16 Years. He has been an instructor at the Livonia Branch and Detroit Branch who has trained under Grand Master Skinner and Grand Master Washington at United Tae Kwon Do. His two children have trained at United Tae Kwon Do and hold 3rd and 4th Dan ranks as well. In his spare time, he is a professional flautist and does studio work as well as private lessons. He is an IT professional and is currently a government contractor supporting various government entities throughout the USA.
Mr. Alec Vann is a 2nd Dan and Instructor at United Tae Kwon Do in Livonia. He has trained extensively under Grand Master Skinner. Mr. Vann earned his Eagle Scout at 14 and is still actively involved in Scouting. He is also an active member of his high school band playing the Clarinet. Mr. Vann is looking to further his education at Michigan Tech studying Nature Conservation.
Mrs. Andrea Vann is a 1st Dan Instructor with United Tae Kwon Do. She has trained for 2 years under Grand Master Skinner and has been teaching classes for over a year. Mrs. Vann has been Married for 18 years and has three children who have all earned black belts at United Tae Kwon Do. She received her BS in Graphic Communication from the Center for Creative Studies.
