Dozens of onlookers woke up early to watch about eight hot air balloons take flight at around 7 a.m. Friday morning in the first launch of the 2016 Hot Air Jubilee.at Ella Sharp Park. Low winds and clear skies made for good flying conditions on the first of five weekend flights.
“It’s very breathtaking, especially on mornings like this,” said Corporate Balloon Pilot Chuck Walz. “It’s probably going to be a record crowd (Saturday). We’re looking at 10 to 20,000.”
