While we offer many classes that are ongoing through the year, we know many students and families appreciate being able to try out some of our Art or Dance classes with a shorter time and financial commitment.
Below are some classes and single-day events that will let you sample the Jackson School of the Arts experience.
We realize it can be a little intimidating getting started on something new. We would be glad to answer any questions or help your get registered over the phone if you don’t feel comfortable signing up online.
Ages: 14 to Adult
Mondays: 7:00 to 8:30
Everyone is an artist. Indulge your love of art and grow at your own pace. This inspiring class is for students at any skill and experience level. Meet with friends in a small group setting for individualized instruction, and hands-on demonstrations… find your inner-artist! Enjoy one four-week session, or take all three.

Session 1: Drawing and Illustration I -Foundations
Sept 14, 21, 28 & Oct. 5
Our wonderful art instructor will guide you through drawing exercises from quick 5-minutes activities to detailed finished pieces. Learn to express yourself through open sketching, guided drawing, and doodles & designs.
Session 2: Drawing and Illustration II -Contour & Shading
Oct 12, 19, 26 & Nov. 2
Our amazing instructor will introduce you to line, shape, value, texture and form. We will work on composition, still-life drawing, contour drawings, and learn fun techniques with pen and ink, pencil, and charcoal.
Session 3: Drawing and Illustration III – Portraits
Nov 9, 16, 30 & Dec. 7 (No class Nov. 23, Closed for the week of Thanksgiving)
Draw Incredible Portraits; learn how placement of features, use of value, and adding the finer details can help you to create an accurate drawing of your subject. We will practice drawing the facial features in step-by-step lessons. With this mixed-media class you’ll be provided various techniques, sketching tips, and individualized instruction to help you refine your skills. You’ll be amazed at what you can draw!
This is a new, shorter-term dance session that allows younger students to experience dance during the Fall and early Winter. At the end of the 12-week session, students will have experienced various dance genres (ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop). The class culminates with a studio showcase (as opposed to a full recital performance). Elements of Dance will keep your child happy and active during the winter months and allow them to determine if a full year of dance is right for them.
Starts Week of September 9 concludes on December 2nd.
$24 to $35 a month based on sliding fee income scale
