Step into the Multiverse! In this extended session, students will join the Time Travel Academy, where their mission is to protect timelines, repair glitches, and create original stories that jump between history, the future, and alternate realities. Inspired by Marvel’s Loki and Avengers: Endgame, participants will spend sixteen weeks learning how to build a story from the ground up and transform it into a finished short film.
The class begins with brainstorming and script development as students design their own time-traveling heroes, villains, and worlds. They will take time to explore character development, plot twists, and dialogue before moving into pre-production, where they plan costumes, props, and filming locations. Once the story is ready, students will rehearse and stage their scenes, then film them using iPhones while experimenting with camera angles and special effects. With access to laptops, they will learn the essentials of digital editing, allowing them to refine their work by layering transitions, titles, sound, and creative effects.
The additional weeks allow for deeper exploration at every stage: extra rehearsal and filming sessions, more guided practice with editing tools, and opportunities for creative side projects such as designing posters or trailers to promote their film. The class concludes with Film Festival Day, where students showcase their completed project for friends and family. By the end of the course, participants will not only walk away with a film they created themselves, but also a strong foundation in performance, directing, collaboration, and digital storytelling.
