Cost: $45 per month (or less)
All dance classes have a one time $30 registration fee (Combination classes $40) that is non-refundable.
This class is designed for first-time dancers to experience class with their caregiver. Your little dancer will have fun dancing to their favorite songs while working on basic dance terminology and coordination. This class will help create fond memories full of laughter and smiles. (Because of space limitations this class is limited to one student to one caregiver ratio).

This class provides a basic ballet foundation for ages 2-4. Students learn to move to simple rhythms, improve coordination and balance, and learn very basic ballet steps and terminology. Other activities include learning through games, skipping, hopping, walking on the balance beam with fun and familiar songs. Children must be able to take this class without a parent and be able to follow simple directions.
To give more variety to the pre-ballet program, all the classes from age 3 and up will also include some tap dance elements as well. This will help them broaden their skills and keep their interest strong.

Step into the grace and beauty of classical ballet with this enchanting class inspired by the elegant French ballet tradition. Dancers will develop strong foundational technique, focusing on clean lines, precise footwork, and musical expression, hallmarks of the French style.
Through gentle barre work, center combinations, and light allegro movements, students will develop the ability to move with fluidity, confidence, and poise. Emphasis is placed on correct posture, graceful port de bras, and an appreciation for the artistry of classical ballet.
Perfect for young dancers who love to move with elegance and want to build strong technical skills in a supportive and inspiring environment.

This tap class is a fun way to learn rhythm, coordination, tap terminology and choreography. The dances and lessons are choreographed in a way that they can be done by a beginner or those with some tap experience.
The Al Gilbert Tap Technique will expose young dancers to both rhythmic techniques and sound recognition. Each level introduces increasingly complex rhythms, steps, and terminology.
Tap Ages 11 & Up
Percussive Dance (Tap & Clogging)
Feel the rhythm from the ground up in this high-energy class that combines the sharp, syncopated sounds of tap dance with the dynamic, driving footwork of clogging. Dancers will explore both styles while learning how to use their feet as powerful percussion instruments.
This class focuses on timing, rhythm, clarity of sound, and musicality, providing students with the opportunity to develop coordination and confidence in both traditional and contemporary styles. Whether you’re new to percussive dance or building on existing skills, this class will be the perfect way for you to sharpen your skills.

Lyrical is a beautiful blend of Ballet, Modern and Jazz Dance. Students learn the techniques of ballet, rhythm of jazz and the emotions of modern dance. Lyrical creates a story or expresses the mood or theme of the music and its lyrics. This class is great for experienced or beginner dancer.

Acro
Acro is a dynamic and exciting dance style that combines classical dance technique with acrobatic elements. Often seen in professional performances and dance competitions, Acro emphasizes strength, flexibility, balance, and fluid transitions between movements.

Description:
Welcome to the world of aerial adventure! This playful class introduces young flyers to the magic of silks, hammocks, and beginner cirque movement. Students will build strength, coordination, and confidence while exploring the air in a safe and imaginative environment. We’ll also introduce elements of dance and creative flow through props and play.
Focus: Body awareness, creative movement, introductory hangs and climbs.
Apparatus Used: Hammock, Silks, Lyra (intro only)
Attire: Fitted activewear, no zippers or jewelry

Each class incorporates creative movement and flow-based activities such as hula hoops or veil fans to spark imagination and personal expression.

Progression: Prepares students for Level I Cirque Arts

This welcoming class is ideal for teens and adults new to aerial or those looking to revisit the fundamentals. Students will develop foundational strength, learn safe aerial techniques like footlocks and basic inversions, and explore creative expression through movement. Classes may also include introductory trapeze and flow arts, such as hula hoops and veil fans, pending the availability of equipment.
Focus: Foundational technique, strength training, apparatus exploration
Apparatus Used: Silks, Hammock, Lyra, Intro to Trapeze (as available)
Attire: Long leggings, fitted top that covers midriff and underarms

Description:
Level 2A challenges students to refine their technique and build strength through longer sequences, transitions, and layered choreography. Students will work on body control, spatial awareness, and artistic expression. Classes may also incorporate flow arts, such as hula hooping and veil fans, to support musicality, rhythm, and creative development.
Focus: Clean technique, mid-air transitions, stamina, choreography
Apparatus Used: Silks, Lyra, Hammock
Requirement: Instructor approval or completion of Level I

Description:
This advanced class is designed for experienced students ready to develop complex aerial sequences, intricate transitions, and expressive choreography. Emphasis is placed on strength, control, and fluidity across multiple apparatuses. Students will also explore the creation and performance of acts using both aerial and ground-based flow arts, such as veils, fans, and hula hoops.
Focus: Choreography, advanced transitions, artistic development
Apparatus Used: Silks, Lyra, Hammock, Flow Arts
Requirement: Demonstrated strength, control, and flow at Level 2A
Cost: $45 per month (or less)
Clogging 8-17 yrs
A beginning-level clogging class…high energy and lots of fun! Clog dancing is similar to tap. Dancers will learn Appalachian clogging steps including basics, doubles, triples, cowboy, joey and MORE!
No experience is necessary for this class. Along with FUN, dancers will get the benefits of improved flexibility, coordination, endurance, strength and building self-confidence.
*Class Requires Clogging Shoes, must order online.

These classes are high energy. Students learn “street moves” danced to the rhythms of today’s favorite R&B, hip hop and pop music. All music is age-appropriate and free of any suggestive language.
Dress Code:
Girls: solid color t-shirt (no inappropriate images), black shorts or leggings, and black tennis shoes with white soles. Shoes must not be worn outside, must be clean for studio use.
Boys: solid color t-shirt (no inappropriate images), black joggers or athletic pants, and black sneakers with white soles.

Irish dance, dating back to the Druids, is a rhythmic and lighthearted dance. While the rigid upper body mimics the posture of a soldier, the legs and feet pound out incredible footwork.

Hard shoe students must order shoes – assistance with ordering available through the instructor. Hair should be in a ponytail or pulled away from your face.

Contemporary dance blends elements of multiple dance styles and lets dancers express emotionality through movements and breath. Learn about the importance of contemporary dance as an art form by briefly exploring its history, influences, and techniques.

Adult Contemporary
Competition is all about fun! Dancers choose this next step to join more of a team environment and want to advance at a more rapid rate. This class requires more of a commitment than a regular weekly class. The team competes at KAR once a year and gets to participate in extra activities that are only available to our teams here at JSA. Each team takes a specific genre of dance that is best suited to that particular team.

Whether you’ve always dreamed of learning ballroom dance or just want to polish your style and add new moves to your repertoire, our instructors at The Jackson School of the Arts will help you meet your goals while feeling comfortable and confident. We strive to provide a vibrant, but relaxed atmosphere to help you become the dancer you’ve always dreamed of becoming (or at least a better dancer!)
Don’t worry if you’ve never danced before or think you have two left feet. We have the experience to get you past feeling awkward and into feeling great about dancing!

Jazz is a high energy, stamina-building class. We focus on classical jazz technique, with across the floor progressions. This class will pull from classical ballet technique with a focus on body isolations and rhythmic movements. Music styles range from popular music to musical theater to decades from the 60s-80s. Contemporary dance blends elements of multiple dance styles and lets dancers express emotionality through movements and breath. Learn about the importance of contemporary dance as an art form through a brief exploration of its history, influences, and techniques.

Take center stage and bring the magic of Broadway to life in this high-energy jazz dance class designed just for adults. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or stepping into the spotlight for the first time, this class celebrates the fun, flair, and theatricality of Broadway-style dance.
Each class includes a dynamic warm-up, jazz technique fundamentals, and a combination inspired by iconic musicals. You’ll build strength, flexibility, and stage presence while learning routines that make you feel like a star. No need for prior experience, just a love of music, movement, and a little drama.
